Story behind the piece: The warms and cools

The Warm and Cools is a counter theme to the colored blue painting. Spiritually, this painting represents what it looks like when we allow God to lead our lives and choose to focus on Jesus.

The blue girl is now positioned on the left side of the painting with her eyes closed. Her closed eyes symbolize that her eyes have been opened in a different way—she no longer feels the need to see everything for herself. Instead, she is learning to trust God and walk by faith, not by sight. The light on the right side represents the light she has found through Jesus. He is the light, and He teaches us how to become a light for others.

The cord woven with multiple colors represents God’s promises and the many ways He works throughout our lives. Together, these symbols represent the process of surrendering control, trusting God’s direction, and allowing Him to lead.

Her closed eyes also serve as a reminder that sometimes we don’t need to have every answer or know exactly what comes next. Sometimes, we simply need to focus on the light, trust God, and believe that everything will work itself out in His timing.
