Story behind the piece: colored blue

This painting represents what it feels like to be in the midst of many things that cause overstimulation, stress, and emotional exhaustion. The girl is painted blue because, in that moment, she isn’t feeling the warmth of life. She feels cold, isolated, and disconnected from the world around her.

The absence of a mouth above the water represents the feeling of not wanting to say anything—to simply go silent. Sometimes, during difficult seasons, it can be hard to express what you’re feeling or even find the words to explain it. The silence in this painting represents that inability to communicate what is happening internally.

I created this piece during a time when I was experiencing many changes in my life, and it became a way for me to express emotions that I couldn’t always put into words. This painting is also a recreation of one of my favorite paintings. I wanted to recreate it because it reminds me of the imagination and beauty of life—of romanticizing the world and seeing it through different perspectives.

To me, this piece captures both the heaviness of deep emotion and the beauty within it. It reminds me that even difficult feelings can hold something beautiful, and that there is a certain depth and poetry in the way a person can experience life.

A conversation piece as much as a work of art, this print brings depth, stillness, and a touch of the mythic to any space. Perfect for collectors drawn to figurative art with emotional resonance.
